It's a new day! The sun is peaking over the horizon and the darkness that has surrounded you is slowly, but steadily, fading away. I believe strongly in my spirit that this year, the year of 2017, is a year of victorious new beginnings; a year when breakthroughs have already started or will occur. And a year that God will continue to do a mighty work in His church. In the bible, the number 17 symbolizes "overcoming the enemy" and "complete victory." For those who keep their eyes on the horizon, great things are about to burst forth in spectacular ways as the "son" radiates His light into your world! Instead of focusing on the events of yesterday, focus on the growth that has taken place within you and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.
How do we do this? By "fixing our eyes on Jesus" as it states in Hebrews 12:2! God is always speaking to and teaching us; however, just as a teacher requires full attention from his students, God requires our full attention for ample learning. That means removing all distractions and simply being present.
Why do we do this? The remaining verse of Hebrews 12:2 provides the answer to this question by describing Jesus as "the pioneer and perfector of faith." But we won't keep our eyes fixed on Jesus if we don't believe what He says. And we can't believe what He says, if we don't know what He says. Therefore, just as a school system requires books for studying, God's system requires His book, the bible, to study. As we look to Him and spend time in His word, He is faithful to spearhead our faith and take us to a new horizon!
