Do Away With Doubt

No one is exempt from experiencing doubt. The bible is full of stories in which characters doubted that the promises of God would ever come to pass. For some, doubt stemmed from contradictions with laws of nature. For others, it was due to an inordinate length of time spent praying and believing on a promise that took years, even decades to be fulfilled.

We’ve all been there, haven’t we? We’ve all experienced moments in our lives when we’ve wondered where God was, or why He would allow certain things to happen. Even dedicated christians who are mature in their spiritual walk can have areas that they doubt God in. Gideon was such a man; a righteous man that was chosen by God to be a deliverer and judge for Israel. But when an angel of the Lord came to him with a battle commission, Gideon was gripped with fear and questioned God’s promise. With a trembling voice he asked, “…but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” (Judges 6:14-16). Even as the angel greeted him, assuring him of God’s presence, Gideon replied “… but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” (Judges 6:13, NIV)

You see, in this case, Gideon’s spiritual vision had been clouded by a current state of failure. His own feelings of defeat and inadequacy caused him to doubt God’s promise of victory. As a result, Gideon asked for multiple miracles as proof that God was really with him. I believe God graciously granted Gideon’s requests because He knew his heart as well as his potential. Fortunately, Gideon’s faith grew exponentially and he became the victorious, mighty warrior God said he was.

God wants YOU to see yourself the way He does too! His desire is for you to courageously take Him at His word and stop doubting your potential...and His abilities!! Hebrews 11:6 states that “without faith, it is impossible to please God.” More than a positive outcome, I pray that you would desire to please Him in everything. Trust that He is a faithful God, that He’s on your side, and that complete victory is yours for the taking!

MOVE. MEASURE. MARCH.

March On!
