Finding Your Path: Navigating the Highs and Lows of Mountains and Valleys

Life is a series of mountains and valleys.  There are moments when you are on the mountain; when you’re on top of the world, with breath-taking views at every turn.  These are the moments when you feel strong and inspired; moments when you marvel at the beauty that surrounds you.

Then there are moments when you are in the valley.  It is here that mountain walls can seem to work against you, as they prevent you from seeing anything other than the low place you are in.  Not only is the beauty you see limited, but the narrow road you are on may seem endless and confined.  The questions that arise as you navigate through a valley can leave you feeling discouraged and confused.

Deliverance from the Valley

Yet, as God’s child, you know the only option is to go through it.  It is never God’s will for you to stay in the valley indefinitely.  It is His will for you to trust that he is with you, that he is guiding you, and that he will deliver you.  God is your greatest advocate.  He is the good Shepherd who cares so deeply and intimately for his sheep.   The same God of the Mountains is also the God of the Valleys!  Although you may feel limited in your circumstance, He is not at all limited and has the power to bring you back out into a spacious place (Psalm 18:19).

Start the Climb

It is God’s will for you to start climbing again.  Psalm 18:33 says, “He makes you as surefooted as a deer, enabling you to stand on mountain heights.”  It may seem impossible for you to do this at first, but that’s because you’ll need to rely on God’s intervention!  He is an ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1) and can help you scale any wall (Psalm 18:29).  Just like any seasoned mountain climber prepares and trains for higher feats, you must realize that God is preparing you for your next mountain; and this one will be much bigger than the last!

Greater Heights and Sights

It will be worth it when you are standing at the top.  The views will be amazing and you’ll be able to take in more beauty than ever before.  You will stand in awe and wonder of His glory; and of His powerful presence that accompanied you throughout the entire journey.  He will entrust you with a higher perspective and greater insight—for “whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance,” according to Matthew 13:12.

May He strengthen and guide you through the valleys of life, and to the highest peak of your next mountain.

MOVE.  MEASURE.  MARCH.

March On!
