Give It Three Days

Is there something you’ve been believing God for? Something that has been stirring in your spirit for quite some time but just hasn’t reached full fruition? I want to encourage you to give it three days. Three is a number of completion. God is made up of three persons in one: God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus ministered on Earth for three years before His crucifixion, (not surprisingly) from age 30 to 33. But even more importantly, the resurrection power of Christ was demonstrated in three days! In just three days, what was thought to be dead was miraculously risen and made even more glorious than before! Jesus proved that everything He said was true, He was who He said He was, and that nothing was impossible for Him. He wanted the world to know that the same resurrection power that lives in Him is available to them. And that nothing in your life is beyond His reach. Nothing is “too dead” for him to bring back to life!

A Call to Endure

It shouldn’t come as a surprise then when we face trials of many kinds; some that seem too burdensome to bear at times. Jesus point-blank warns us in John 16:33 that “in this world, you will have trouble,” yet goes on to say, “but take heart, I have overcome the world!” It is through our troubles and trials that we are given the opportunity to look and act more and more like Jesus. How do I know? Because there is no greater example than the one He gave with His own life, especially at the end of it. On the day of His crucifixion, Jesus was stripped and humiliated as His enemies heaped insults on him. He endured hours of relentless whippings and beatings even though He had done nothing wrong. And He was forced to carry His own leaden cross before hanging on it with nails driven through His hands and feet.

A Call to Look Beyond

In the natural, it looked like Jesus was defeated. I’m sure doubts filled the minds of many spectators as they saw Jesus, the man who performed miracles and claimed to be the Son of God, go through the same tortuous death that society's felonious outcasts had to face. “He saved others,” they mocked, “but He can’t save himself!” (Matthew 27:42) Yet Jesus saw the big picture. He knew there was PURPOSE and VICTORY waiting on the other side. It is only in keeping the right perspective that Jesus was able to persevere in such dire circumstances. The pain was real. The suffering was excruciating, But Hebrews 12:2 tells us that “For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Yes, that’s right. He was seated on His heavenly throne in the end after His miraculous resurrection. Not even death could hold Him down! Your circumstances may look bleak and hopeless. They may even look dead. But nothing is over until God says it’s over. Believe that He will bring your purpose-filled victory to completion. It’s Friday now…but Sunday’s coming!
