The Great Physician

Sickness and disease are never far from us. At any moment, a doctor’s report or lab results can immediately change the course of our lives and affect everyone around us. All of a sudden, priorities shift as we realize just how important our health is to living an abundant life. Isn’t it nice to know, though, that an abundant life is precisely what God’s will for you is? While the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, Jesus came so that we can have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10)! It is His will for you to be whole…and healed! Therefore, when a doctor’s report suggests otherwise, it is not time to shrink back in defeat, but rather to stand firm in your faith-- girded with the belt of truth, which comes from the Word of God. He is the great physician!

Declare His Word

God’s truth is His Word, and His word says Jesus was wounded for your transgressions, and that by His stripes, you are healed (Isaiah 53:5)! There are plenty of other scriptures to reference and look up regarding God’s desire to heal you, but they won’t be entirely effective unless you believe and declare His Word. Remember that God created the world, and the entire universe, by speaking them into existence. His words had the power to create something literally out of nothing. And through the bible, He has given you the ability to do the same by speaking His Word over your circumstances. Your words create your reality, so make sure they’re aligned with the truth from God’s Word! “For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord” (Jeremiah 30:17)!

Maintain a Spirit of Expectancy

God’s power is always displayed in an atmosphere of expectancy. When His people gather for a specific purpose, prayed up and strengthened by faith, God is faithful to show up! I’ve been fortunate enough to witness this take place several times throughout my life and even recently (less than two weeks ago) while on a missions trip to Africa. Every evening, several people from nearby villages and tribes were given an opportunity to attend an outdoor service where the name of Jesus was proclaimed and prayer for healing was provided. Although I walked around and prayed for many, there was one particular lady who walked up to me and, through her gestures (she only spoke Swahili), asked me to pray for her legs. When I finished praying for healing in her legs, she disappeared into the crowd. Soon after, however, people were called up onto the stage to share their testimonies. Lo and behold, this same lady was one of them! Through the use of a translator, she testified of instant healing in her legs as she jumped up and down excitedly! Immediately, tears welled up in my eyes and ran down my cheeks. To God be the glory! I truly believe that her healing came due to her spirit of expectancy. She didn’t just wait to be prayed for; instead, she sought it out! She stepped out in faith by first attending and then actively seeking, believing that God would meet her need. And He didn’t disappoint. What about you? How far will you go to demonstrate your faith? Whether it’s before a crowd or an audience of ONE, God wants you to continuously press in and seek out your healing with a spirit of expectancy.

Worship As a Weapon

Worship is so much more than singing uplifting, melodic songs. It is an act of surrender and reverence for a God that is more powerful than any sickness or circumstance. It is an act of faith that demonstrates that even through the storms of life, Jesus remains the anchor of your soul. And when you lift up the name of Jesus, He’ll elevate you with Him! He’ll elevate your perspective so that you can rise up and overcome all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). Exodus 23:25 tells us to “Worship the Lord your God, and His blessing will be on your food and water. He will take away sickness from among you.”

You may be facing a difficult reality right now, but there is a difference between reality and truth. Yes, those test results are real. Yes the pain and stress is reality. But God’s Word is truth. And His truth says that you are an overcomer, that you are healed, and that you will live to testify of His goodness!

MOVE. MEASURE. MARCH.

March On!
